Welcome to my blog, thesomersetfoodie.com.

I’m Fiona and I’m passionate about all things food - especially the produce that comes from my beautiful home county of Somerset.
I have spent the majority of my adult life working as a chef, mostly in two beautiful Somerset county pubs along the Polden Ridge, but also for a large catering company and for a small, independent Italian restaurant.
I left the profession in 2017 to start a family - while I loved my job I knew it wasn’t something I would be able to continue with during pregnancy and the thought of finally having weekends and evenings free was quite a pleasing one! There are many aspects of the job I really miss, in particular, menu creation for special events such as Christmas - an energy I hope to channel into this blog instead.
I also want to share some tricks of the trade - there are so many easy ways to give your home-cooking an extra bit of flare and I hope to give tips that will help readers produce restaurant-style food at home with ease
